6 Moisturising Hand Creams Tested, Who Came Out on Top?

6 Moisturising Hand Creams Tested, Who Came Out on Top?

Weleda Sea Buckthorn Hand Cream

Weleda Sea Buckthorn Hand Cream

This is what Weleda says:

Light, quickly-absorbed hand cream for everyday use.
Protects and moisturises the skin on your hands with valuable, rich oils and a fruity-fresh fragrance.

This is my test result:

Use a pea sized amount of this yellowish hand cream and once applied your skin will absorb this hand cream in seconds. Due to the firm consistency of this hand cream I was first skeptical as to whether this cream would really absorb quickly, but I was proven wrong. You can touch things seconds after application, without leaving any trace of the cream behind. The skin feels soft and smooth and not just for minutes, for hours. I have been using this hand cream for several weeks now and my skin has certainly become softer and less dry.

This hand cream has a very intensive smell of citrus fruits which I really loved and thought it was very uplifting. It was probably the first thing I noticed when opening the tube and the smell lasted for around an hour. If you don’t like the scent of citrus fruit, or intensive smells in general, I would not recommend this hand cream.

Conclusion: My overall summary of this product is that it does what it says on the box. I would recommend this hand cream to anyone who suffers from dry hands and would like an immediate moisturising effect. I also think that this hand cream is suitable for men. The downside to this product is the packaging. The metal tube can crack especially when carrying it permanently in your handbag.

Weleda Almond Sensitive Skin Hand Cream

Weleda Almond hand creamThis is what Weleda says:

A mild formula which calms irritation-prone skin and delivers lasting moisture to sensitive hands. Touch, grab, hold, communicate – our hands do a lot, and they need special care in return, especially if you have sensitive skin.

This is my test result:

Don’t expect a strong smell of almond when using this hand cream as the scent is very minimal. However, it does smell a bit like almond and if you’re not a fan of this scent then stay away from it. I personally like the smell of almond and thought it was quite pleasant and not too overpowering. The consistency of this hand cream is very light and a bit liquid. You only need to apply a small amount of hand cream which will be quickly absorbed by your hands. It won’t leave your hands greasy and you will be able to use your hands as normal after a few seconds.

This cream was developed for sensitive skin and it serves its purpose. It will moisture your dry hands in a gentle way, but I would not recommend this hand cream for very dry and cracked hands as the consistency is not rich enough for that.

Conclusion: This hand cream is not very rich and therefore needs to be applied more often. If you suffer from sensitive skin and you need a moisture boost, then this is the right hand cream for you. Once again I’m not a fan of the metal tube as it can crack in your handbag.

Weleda Skin Food

Weleda Skin FoodThis is what Weleda says:

Skin Food is a universal saviour of dry, rough skin on faces, elbows, hands and feet that helps restore smoothness after everyday surface damage.

This is my test result:

This cream is not just for hands but also for feet, elbows, face and body – technically speaking for the entire body. This cream was specifically developed for cracked and damaged skin and therefore the consistency is very rich. It will take quite some time to be absorbed if used as a hand cream. It has an intense smell of herbs and lemon which will fade away after around 20 minutes.

Conclusion: I think this cream is good for very dry and cracked skin, especially in winter. Since it is so rich I thought that this cream was perfect for use overnight and it can be used sparingly which is really
good value for money.

Green People Help at Hand Hand Cream

Green People Help at Hand CreamThis is what Green People says:

A soothing and protective natural hand cream, a rescuing remedy for ‘hard-working’ hands and sensitive skin, deeply hydrating and protects against moisture loss, rich, non-greasy and acts as a light barrier cream, fragrant, calming scent.

This is my test result:

I really like the fact that the Green People Help at Hand hand cream comes with a practical pump dispenser, so you can be sure that one pump of this hand cream is enough. You will notice the scent of rose straight away which I thought was quite pleasant and not too overpowering.
It will take around one minute to absorb and your hands will be instantly soft and non-greasy.

The consistency of this hand cream is rather light and one pump of cream is enough to achieve good results. Your hands will feel immediately soft and smooth and this feeling will last for hours so there is no need to re-apply after a short period of time. I gave this hand cream to a friend of mine who suffers from eczema and she was pleasantly surprised with how gentle and effective it was.

Conclusion: I think a small amount of this hand cream goes a long way. I would recommend this hand cream to anyone who suffers from dry and cracked hands and need a quick, non-greasy solution to their problem.

Dr Hauschka Hydrating Hand Cream

Dr Hauschka Hydrating Hand CreamThis is what Dr Hauschka says:

Hydrating Hand Cream soothes, nourishes and protects hands from cold, harsh or dry conditions.

This is my test result:

The consistency of this yellowish hydrating hand cream is rather light and was absorbed very quickly – in less than 10 seconds and my hands felt nourished and cared for immediately without leaving any residue
behind. The hand cream smells a bit like lemon with a touch of herbal fragrance which might be not everyone’s cup of tea. I personally don’t mind the smell as I thought it was quite natural and let’s face it, the nourishing factor is much more important than the smell but there are better smelling hand creams out there for sure.

After using this hand cream my hands immediately felt smoother and softer with the dry bits becoming instantly moisturised. The smell of this hand cream is short lived and it seems to do what it says on the packaging. My hands feel lovely and soft after just one application.

The downside of this hand cream is the packaging. The hand cream comes in a metal tube and often cracks open which can leak all over your handbag.

Conclusion: I thought this hand cream was just perfect to get my dry hands back in shape. The scent takes some getting used to, but the care effect is much more important than the fragrance and it is an
extra bonus that this hand cream absorbs quickly without leaving hands greasy or sticky.

Dr Hauschka Regenerating Hand Cream

Dr Hauschka Regenerating Hand CreamThis is what Dr Hauschka says:

Regenerating Hand Cream treats you to silky-soft feeling skin and effective protection against environmental influences – instantly and sustainably.

This is what I tested:

The Regenerating Hand Cream comes in a pump dispenser and I used one pump for my hands. The consistency is rich and it smells fabulous. The smell is difficult to define but it is a natural smell with a hint of sweetness. It sinks in incredibly fast and leaves my hands instantly feeling smooth and soft. Even though it is a richer cream I don’t feel the urge to wash my hands again after applying it as it absorbs so quickly. Dr Hauschka also states that you can use this hand cream as a hand mask which I have tried out. I applied twice the amount of hand cream to each hand and wrapped them in a towel for 10 minutes.

However, I had the feeling that the cream was fully absorbed within the first minute, which is why I can not necessarily recommend the application as a mask.

Conclusion: I’m really over the moon with this hand cream. My hands feel very soft and well hydrated after just one application. The packaging is also great for when you are out and about as this one can’t crack and leak all over you bag. This hand cream seems to nourish your hands on a deeper level instead of just coating the hands. My hands feel noticeably softer after a few days of use. A little goes a long way as with most Dr Hauschka products.
